Usually in a divorce, the couple that is divorcing needs to make the decision about who is going to keep the house.  They need to work this out on their own or make sure that the courts address it. You have to make the decision about what will be done with the property. There are many different options and it is important to make sure that the decision is best for everyone involved.

Close your eyes and remember December, the smell of cinnamon in your mother’s or grandmother’s kitchen and the warm scent of dough baking in the oven. Imagine opening the oven door and, with assistance, taking out the heated cookie sheet. Devour the cookies, small works of art, with your eyes: Fudge Brownies, Gingerbread, Nut Rolls, Painted Cookies, Sugar Cookies… With each bite, taste your childhood and family history. You can trace your blood and traditions not by DNA, genealogies and family heirlooms, but by recipes given from one generation to the next, like oral histories handed down in clans before recorded fact caught on.

A Belly Of Mindfulness

Posted by: Chris D'Cruz | Comments (0)

Taco Bell, the Mexican fast-food franchise, has a new ad campaign focusing on the slogan, “Get full.” The commercials show people ecstatically announcing that they are full–thanks, of course, to the huge value meals now available at Taco Bell.

We know that feeling full isn’t simply a matter of building a bigger, better burrito. There’s a whole lotta emptiness going on, and it’s not always filled by what we put into our bellies.

The search for connection, for meaning, for love–these are longings not met by the bags we pick up at the drive-thru window. To feel full in the truest sense, we must figure out what we are lacking in our lives. We’re not always mindful of this quest.

Giving Attention To Happiness

Posted by: Chris D'Cruz | Comments (0)

When I left England in 2000 there did not seem to be much happiness around. People in modern western society tend to be self focused to the extreme, prone to criticise rather than support or applaud, and with little time or inclination to devote to others. Relationships can be a battleground rather than a haven of mutual support. Thinking about it now, I did not know anyone who I could say was really happy. I was acquainted with a few who might have been in a state of happiness, but I did not know them well enough to be sure.

Our King Complex

Posted by: Chris D'Cruz | Comments (0)

When King David was old and well advanced in years… Adonijah… put himself forward and said, “I will be king.” I Kings 1.

David was a great King who had ruled Israel with an iron hand for 40 years. But, time had caught up with him. Things the old king use to do, he could not do anymore. And so, the hell hounds came out of the cracks and crevices.

Grow Through It

Posted by: Chris D'Cruz | Comments (0)

It’s past bedtime for most working men. It’s not unbearably late and I have no appointments tomorrow morning so I sit here and contemplate. Contemplate what? Well, what do I always contemplate? Life, the concept of God, the meaning of life, what’s happening in society, and my next step in my own journey; there really is a lot to consider or, more aptly put, more that one can consider. I speak of being in the moment, staying present and not worrying. You are more effective in that place. Yet, there are times for reflection.

Each of us has its own interest or has a hobby. Some love all kinds of books, music, and movies while others are into sports and traveling. There are also people who love to grow flowers and loves pets. These things help us to relax and forget our everyday problems and troubles and these things are common to people. But not everyone has a hobby that makes money for him/her except if you love your job.

A carpenter uses a set of house plans to build a house. If he didn’t the bathroom might get overlooked altogether. Rocket Scientists would never begin construction on a new booster rocket without a detailed set of design specifications. Yet most of us go blindly out into the world without an inkling of an idea about finances and without any plan at all. Not very smart of us, is it?

A Few Things About Value Investing

Posted by: Chris D'Cruz | Comments (0)

Value investing is the act of investors selecting stocks based upon a perceived value rather than solely looking at pricing trends in the stock’s history.

In fact, value investing may seem to go against convention investment wisdom in many cases because value investors tend to seek out stocks that they believe the market has undervalued. This can include so called “penny stocks” at times, but is more often associated with undervalued stocks on a major exchange such as NASDAQ or the NYSE.
