Give Your Dreams Substance

May 14, 2008

Setting goals is wonderful; it confirms that we’ve taken those first awkward steps towards attaining what we desire in our lives. The simple fact that you’ve taken the time to plan out what you want to achieve puts you in a distinct class.

Amazingly very few people take the time to keep a running list of goals. Sadly, even fewer people actually work their goals. So take the time right now to give yourself a little pat on the back! You deserve it.

Follow your Dream

May 2, 2008

If you have a dream, follow it. No matter how wild, outrageous, and improbable it may seem. If possible travel on your journey with friends who will support you. Friendship can keep your faith alive long after your energy and hope have been worn away.

Another thing you might want to do is to go where your probability of success is greatest.

When you work long and hard at the apparently futile, remember that your sense of futility is a lie; it is merely your conditioned mind reminding you of your limits; the lie seeks to eliminate your future promise.

Morals To Live By

April 13, 2008

If one has ever had the honor of watching Disney’s “Angels in the Outfield,” starring Danny Glover, one has been truly inspired. The story centers around two, foster children whom are endlessly hoping for a home to call their own. In the film, the older child, Roger pleads with his deadbeat dad to take him back. The father brushes his son off with a taunting response, “….you can live with me when the Angels win the Penant…” Roger, excitedly goes home and prays to God for the baseball team (the Angels) to win the Penant. He and his little foster freind, “JB,” attend an Angels’ game where suddenly, Roger begins seeing real angels in the outfield. Remarkably, the coach, “George Knox,” played by Danny Glover grows close to the two foster children as Roger helps him develop his team (by the angels he sees on the playing diamond). As time progresses and the “Angels” begin a winning streak toward the Penant, Roger’s dad relinquishes total custody of his son to the state and leaves the child feeling more abandoned than ever.

Creative Procrastination

April 5, 2008

Do you ever postpone things, or just forget about them for a while, or tell yourself, “I’ll get to that later?” Do you sometimes feel guilty about it? Well, it’s true that procrastination can be a bad habit, but there are times when it can be useful.

Procrastination When You Are Unsure

Sometimes procrastinating makes sense if you aren’t sure you should be doing something. If you haven’t started that business, for example, maybe your unconscious mind is saying you aren’t ready to do it. Look into the reasons for your procrastination, not to rationalize your lack of action, but to see if there really is a good reason to wait.

Facts About The Art Of Influence

April 1, 2008

All of us could work on our skills in influencing others - whether it is within a company, a family, or a group of friends. Within the corporate world, influence is a power that you can control with your supervisor, upper management, customers, and co-workers.

Don’t confuse influencing, with the art of “kissing up;” it’s not the same thing. Livia, the wife of Octavian (Caesar Augustus), and mother of Tiberius, was one of the most influential people in Rome. She is not known for kissing up, but she is historically remembered as one of the most powerful Romans of her time.

Change Begins With Choice

February 23, 2008

Any day we wish we can discipline ourselves to change it all. Any day we wish; we can open the book that will open our mind to new knowledge. Any day we wish; we can start a new activity. Any day we wish; we can start the process of life change. We can do it immediately, or next week, or next month, or next year.

It Is Up To You

February 3, 2008

One of the first things successful people realize is the old adage, “if it is to be, it is up to me.” That is, for you, the fact that your success and your course is up to you. This doesn’t mean that you do it all alone. It simply means that you take responsibility for your life and your career.
